GPL Update for 2017

Firstly it is great to see the support for this event with a 50% increase on last years teams (now 12) now totaling 116 players. I thank you for being apart of it. If you want to be apart of the 2017 season there are still 4 spots up for grabs We do not wish anyone to feel excluded, hence the team increase for this year. If it is not for you then that is OK too.

11th of March 2017 is when the battle begins!

We ask that you make payment between now and the end of February. Shirts are being embroidered with – Purple, Orange, Maroon and Black house shirts are ready for collection. So if you are in one of these teams you may come and collect if you have paid, or collect on payment. The rest we will have ready in store see by the months end if not sooner.

The full schedule will be not far behind with it coinciding with the completion of the 2017/18 fixtures.

The Nitty-Gritty

14 rounds, all teams play each other once with a random repeat for 3 sides.  The top 5 teams will advance to finals. The bottom side will be eliminated and the other 6 sides will compete in a knockout plate.

Round one will see a bye for the minor premiers and finals will be played similar to the SANFL Finals system. How is that you ask… well I am not sure myself but I promise to have researched it by the time the season starts.

Prizes will be awarded to 1-5th and winner of the knockout plate. Player of the year will be based on points per match the same as last year and the premiers will be around to you to fill their jugs on GPL rounds.

WILD CARDS

Any Junior under 16 is able to be a junior wild card. They will play from the Orange Tees and, if their score is in top 4, will count to the teams total. ONE wild Card per team. Currently the Blue and the Pink team have a wild card with Orange working on it… You better start working on it too!

PREMIERSHIP JUG NOTE

For those who don’t know; each player from the winning team is awarded a perpetual jug (300ml aprox). This jug can be placed in front of any GPL player on any round of the GPL and request a drink (beer of soft drink). The person it is placed in front of takes it to the bar and requests the lovely bar staff to fill it, they pay for it then pass it to the winning player… saying congratulations and bowing down as though they were kneeling before their creator.

A special price will be allocated on the bar for jug fill for the PREMIERS and each Purple House member can only ask once of each other member to fill their jug. We will allocate a chart to the bar for fairness in the redemption of the prize. NOTE ALL of this years participants WILL be inline to pay up (for those who didn’t play last year think of it as a penalty of not playing last year)… if you have your colours on then you can be asked and you must obey.
